HW-1880g Compact Embedded 1D 2D Inversed Datamatrix High Density PDF417 fixed barcode reader for driver license
Product Description
The HW-1880 fixed 2D barcode reader is mainly built for integration into diverse self-service terminals. It supports an extensive range of barcodes: international 1D barcodes, 2D codes, MRZ strings from IDs/passports, lengthy high-density PDF417 on driver’s licenses, reversed Datamatrix codes on cigarette packs in Russia, and more. Equipped with glare resistance, it operates reliably in sunlight and reads both paper-based and electronic screen barcodes, including DPM (Direct Part Marking) codes—permanently etched symbols.
As a series product, it delivers complete functionality adaptable to different requirements. Beyond standard offerings, we customize products per client requests, covering special functionalities, performance tweaks, and interface options such as RS232, RS485, and Wiegand. Sub-model features are summarized in the table below, ordered from lower to higher performance.

Use Cases
Embedded scanning modules are utilized in countless products where barcode reading is essential. Successful implementations of this model include:
1. Package pickup lockers (e.g., Hive Box). Found increasingly in neighborhoods, schools, and industrial parks, these units contain embedded fixed barcode readers.
2. Self-checkout vending machines. Placed in public areas, such machines employ built-in scanners to read product barcodes for inventory control and to scan mobile QR codes for payment.
3. Eco-friendly trash stations. To regulate waste disposal and protect the environment, numerous forward-thinking cities have implemented smart trash stations that use fixed scanners to read QR codes from users’ apps, connecting system records with real actions.
4. Industrial production lines. In manufacturing plants, scanning at each process stage inputs data into MES systems, ensuring the facility operates according to planned procedures.
