Product Description
1280×720 Pixels Fixed Mount Embedded Passport OCR Wide Angle Barcode Reader Module
Designed for self-service ID kiosks requiring reliable decoding of barcodes and MRZ character strings.
Fixed Embedded Barcode and MRZ Reader with Close-Range Wide-Angle Optics
The HW-1880M is a fixed embedded barcode and MRZ reader module engineered for applications requiring reliable decoding of both 1D/2D barcodes and OCR‑A/OCR‑B character strings found on passports and identity cards. Equipped with a 1MP sensor and a wide‑angle lens exceeding 90°, it delivers exceptional close‑range performance. The module reads the MRZ line on international passports from as little as 7cm—significantly shorter than the conventional 14cm—while national ID card MRZ strings can be captured from just 6cm, making it the ideal solution for systems that must accommodate both document types at a fixed reading distance.
Key Features
  • 1MP imager with >90° field of view for high‑density and elongated barcodes at close range
  • Dual‑document MRZ support: passport MRZ from 7-15cm, ID card MRZ from 6cm
  • Auto‑trigger mode for OCR string reading
  • Cross‑hair laser aimer for precise targeting
  • Compact, rugged housing with customizable interface and cabling options

Primary Applications
Commonly deployed in self-service identity kiosks such as airport check-in terminals, government hall queue management systems, and hotel self-service check-in stations. In these scenarios, the module is typically set to command-controlled mode, triggered by user interaction via the kiosk display. Users simply place their passport, ID card, or barcode at the designated scan zone for instant, hands-free reading.
