Honorway Delivers 6,000 Units of HW-1880D Barcode Scanner Module for Smart Waste Stations

As global environmental awareness continues to grow, supported by government policies, community-based waste stations have emerged in Europe and the United States. First-tier cities in China have also begun setting up similar facilities to encourage citizens to sort waste properly by depositing different types of waste into designated bins. These waste stations have now been upgraded into smart systems, equipped with electronic main control boards that manage barcode scanning modules, motors (to open and close bin lids), and display screens. They also record data, digitizing and attributing waste disposal practices, which can serve as one of the indicators for selecting model citizens. As a result, barcode scanners are finding broad application in this niche field.

After four months of two rounds of sample testing and one round of small-batch validation, the waste station project ultimately selected Honorway’s embedded fixed barcode scanner module, model HW-1880D. At the end of April, the customer placed an initial mass-production order for 6,000 units. Honorway promptly ramped up production and successfully completed delivery on May 20, earning high recognition from the customer. Delivering quality products and excellent service remains Honorway’s enduring motivation.

Looking ahead, the customer has disclosed that the project will continue to scale, with an estimated total installation of 50,000 units over the product lifecycle. Moreover, Honorway has gained a first-mover advantage in applying barcode scanners within the smart waste station niche. We believe more similar project requirements will emerge in the future.
