USB Barcode Scanner with Unique USB ID for Multi-Scanner Identification

When multiple same-model USB barcode scanners are connected to one host computer, scanned data can be transmitted to the PC but cannot be easily identified by scanner. This is because the USB interface names are the same and the PID/VID are also identical, so the host computer cannot distinguish which barcode scanner sent the data. In some practical applications, the host application must call the USB port name of each connected device to distinguish all connected scanners. This requires every barcode scanner to have an independent, unique ID. However, most barcode scanners on the market today do not support a unique USB ID.

Honorway barcode scanners can provide a unique USB ID. No matter how many scanners are connected to the host computer, users can clearly match each scanner by checking the ID in the USB properties in Device Manager. First, a unique production number is written into every product. This number is the product’s production serial number and identity number; it allows users to know the production date and is equivalent to the printed serial number label on the product. Second, this unique production number is used as the USB ID, serving as the unique identifier for the USB interface. This perfectly solves the multi-scanner identification problem. The product model can also be used as the USB ID number. When one host computer is connected to different models of barcode scanners, using the product model as the USB ID can also help distinguish the status of connected devices.
